She will not comment on 20th-century artworks or those produced before 1680, or works of oriental, African, middle eastern or American origin; She will, if she feels it worthwhile to the client, appraise works within the following areas:

• Goya and his contemporaries
• Spanish painting in the 18th and 19th centuries
• British neoclassical painting and sculpture
• The art of John Flaxman and his contemporaries
• British 18th-century portraiture and figure painting
• French painting in the 18th and early 19th centuries

Dr Sarah Symmons will appraise artworks and write a detailed report including observations and comments on the painting, artist, school, period; she will include approximate dating and valuation.

The fee for this service is based upon time, expenses and 'lead' time to completion of the report, which will vary according to the complexity of the assignment.
